Paul Bingham is the Director of Transportation Consulting for S&P Global Market Intelligence. Applying the resources of S&P, he leads economic analysis of supply chain logistics, transportation, and trade for national, regional, and local markets. Paul manages teams that provide key information for logistics decision makers, including market sizing, demand forecasting, risk metrics, benefit cost analysis, financial due diligence, and economic impact analysis. He has experience analyzing freight markets for government agencies including the U.S. Department of Transportation, state agencies such as the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Georgia Ports Authority, and metropolitan planning agencies including the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Coastal Region Metropolitan Planning Organization. Private sector clients include carriers in all modes of freight transport, major shippers, terminal operators, transportation intermediaries, and investors.
Paul is a subject matter expert in freight transportation, having contributed to programs of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences’ Transportation Research Board (TRB) for 30 years. He is a member of the TRB Committee on Data for Decisions, and the Port Performance and the Joint Supply Chain subcommittees. He is a past Chair of the TRB Freight Systems Group and Emeritus Member of the TRB Freight Systems Group Executive Committee. He is an appointed member of the U.S. Marine Board. He previously served three terms as an appointed member of the U.S. Federal Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness. He has served as a lecturer on port economics for the American Association of Port Authorities’ Marine Terminal Management Training Program, and is a member of the Council on Supply Chain Management Professionals, contributing to their annual State of Logistics and EPIC reports.
